Proud History Bright Future |
Well that was the message Randy left us with at the end of last season - thanks for the free scarf Randy, but you would be forgiven in this cynical multi-million pound industry we know as football for thinking 'where is the bright future' when we have let so many players go and brought in so few compared with our competitors. We have spent a fraction of others yet our owner is one of the richest (that's cleared funds as well if there are any debt ridden Mancs reading!).
On the way to the match today whilst stuck at the main M6 exit island (it seems no one thought to notify the Rozzers there were 36,000+ people visiting Villa Park) I mentioned to my father-in-law that I felt comfortable that Randy and O'Neill were getting it right. We are not just spending money on any available player for the hell of it nor are we paying too much for players just because other teams know we have it. The papers today are reporting that Sven has spent £40 million on players he has seen only on video! Add to that the fact that his spree is funded by a less than squeaky clean new club owner, I know which club I would rather be supporting. |
